Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am happy to report that I've completed the Seven Hills of Edinburgh Challenge in the hot sunshine in 2 hours 39 minutes. It was a 14.3 mile race with an ascent of 2,200 ft, starting and finishing at Calton Hill, covering 6 further hills around Edinburgh in between. I was doing it to support a Family Fund called Georgie's Genes, set up by my close friends Michael and Lindsay Armstrong in aid of Muscular Dystrophy UK.
In November 2014, at just under 2 and a half, Michael and Lindsay's daughter Georgie was diagnosed with L-CMD. L-CMD is a very rare form of congenital muscular dystrophy caused by a mutation in the lamin A/C gene which leads to progressive muscle weakness of the skeletal, respiratory and heart muscles. L-CMD is so rare that there is little knowledge about the disease progression and there are only a handful of children in the UK that have the condition. By participating in this event I hope to raise funds to support the research and development into this, as yet, incurable condition.
