Story
I am sure we all remember where we were when we saw the photograph of the body of the tiny Syrian boy being carried gently from the shore by a member of the Turkish police force. The boy was one of a group of refugees from Syria attempting to reach safety and escape the horrifying carnage in his home. The outpouring of sympathy and protest was incredible and showed people in their best light.
I am taking part in a sponsored poetry reading on 5th December, 2015 where 60 poets will read in a continuous stream for 10 minutes each, over the course of 10 hours. We are raising funds for Médecins Sans Frontières (UK) in support of the extraordinary work they are doing to help refugees in the Mediterranean.
Do come and enjoy the event, which is being held at:
Vout-O-Reenees, 30 Prescott Street, London E1 8BB, a gorgeous private members' club owned by Sophie Parkin.
5th December, 2015
Time: 12 noon to 10 pm.
Entry to the event is free. Please sponsor me and pop in for as long or short a time as you like on the day to cheer our many fabulous poets.
All funds raised will be through sponsorship and donations and all the money I raise will go to MSF.
