Where do you even start when it comes to why I'm supporting Cancer Research UK? With 400 people diagnosed with cancer every day its hard not to know someone who hasn't been touched by cancer in some way.
The work of Cancer Research UK however is relentless in its mission to beat cancer and give more people memories that they otherwise simply wouldn't get to have.
And so to the reason this is somewhat of a challenge for me ... 5 months ago I gave birth to Samuel Russell Rogers.
As any sleep deprived parent will tell you, even managing to get out of the house at times is a challenge so actually training for a half marathon, and a quick one at that (£2 per mile if I can #beattheceo , and I'm gonna give it my best shot!) is ... well ... not childs-play!
5 months ago Samuel Russell Rogers got to meet both of his Grandma's. Both of whom have been touched by cancer but who came through it to meet their grandson, and I have no doubt that it's due to the work by CR-UK and others which enabled this.
So bring it on ... Great North Run ... Against the CEO ... and lets make sure more people get the chance to make more memories!
