FC United of Manchester is a fans-owned football club.  It seeks to show that a fans-owned club can be successful on the pitch and can also show what football clubs can do to bring communities together and get people living healthier lifestyles.

This 5.8km run will be a challenge for me.  At the moment I can run for about 15 minutes without getting bored and about 20 minutes before starting to feel like I've really had enough.  5.8 km will probably take me about 40 minutes so it will require me to train regularly and really focus on improving my fitness level over the next few weeks.  This will help me to improve my life expectancy and increase my chances of living a healthier life.  So people who care about me should encourage me with sponsorship for that reason alone!

The money I will raise will be split between FC United and MedEquip4Kids.

FC united will use the money to pay for a new football stadium to be built in the most deprived area of Manchester where it will serve as the focus for our community work raising the aspirations especially of young people.  Our work includes promoting sport as a way of getting fit, developing some of the most vulneraable people in our city both as individuals and members of our community and promoting community cohesion in a way that undermines the fascist groups who are targetting the same area we are!

MedEquip4Kids raise money for children's health projects across the North West of England.  They are FC United's charity of the year and our support for them is part of our commitment to our community.
