Brighton Marathon 2014 · 6 April 2014 ·
We are running the Brighton Marathon on the 6th of April 2014. Having tentatively discussed running it in early 2013, the four of us took the plunge in the summer and signed up for the challenge.
We have chosen to run for MS research. This charity is something that is very close to my heart and I am very thankful to Tom, Matt and Jack for all being keen to run for this charity.
My mum lived with MS for over 20 years and passed away in November 2013 after battling with the disease. I witnessed first-hand how this disease works and it is for this reason that I am passionate about raising as much money as possible to reduce the number of people in the future who are to live with MS.
We had always planned to run for an MS charity after signing up to the marathon, however following mum's death I suggested that we should run for a purely research charity. Little is known about the causes of MS, and at the moment there is no known cure for the disease; MS Research aims to change this. For this reason, any sponsorship of any amount will be greatly appreciated.
Personally, I will be taking spirit from how my mum battled with the disease. Mum was the strongest, most loving and most caring person and from this I will draw strength throughout the training and the marathon itself.
On a lighter note, why Teletubbies you ask? We wanted to run in fancy dress to generate more publicity and hopefully with it more awareness regarding MS. It also makes the challenge an even tougher one and one that we are keen to tackle. Also, we should be easy to spot so if anybody is near the Brighton area on the 6 of April, please come down and support us.
In short, we are running this marathon to raise money for MS Research so that in the future, less people will have to live with MS. If you would like to support us and this great cause, please take a moment to make a donation.
