Firstly, thanks for coming to my page!
Mount Kilimanjaro is the worlds tallest free standing mountain and Africa's highest point at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet!) and in July 2010 I will be taking on the huge challenge of climbing to the Summit, to raise money for the prostate and testicular cancer charity 'Everyman'. The climb should take me approximately 10 days to complete, but with a
3rd of climbers not reaching the top I'll be training hard for the next
6 months, in the gym, running and mountaineering in Wales.
Every year 2,000 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer and 35,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. In 2008 my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer and his battle is still ongoing. It goes without saying that this is a cause that is very close to my heart but it affects so many people, both directly and indirectly. It's for these reasons I want to raise as much as I can for 'Everyman'.
In order to do this I have decided to pay for the trip and equipment myself so that every penny you donate will go straight to charity. If you'd like to find out more about how your donations will be used please visit the website:
www.everyman-campaign.org.
And here's an added incentive if you need one-until the end of July the Government have agreed to give £1 for every £3 donated to Everyman, so please dig as deep as you can for this great charity (and make the government do the same)!
Wish me luck! And thanks in advance for your generosity!
Rob :)
