<p class="MsoNormal">Hi everyone,</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">On 30th April I’ll be starting my cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats.<span> </span>The ride is just over 1,000 miles long and I'm planning to do it in 12 days.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Cycling Land's End to John O'Groats is something I've always wanted to do.<span> </span>I decided to do it this year, having really gotten back into cycling over the past couple of years.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As most of you reading this will be aware, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes six years ago at the age of 24. I've been determined that my diabetes won't stop me living my life to the full. LEJOG will be an interesting<span> </span>test!</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As well as trying to achieve one of my lifelong goals, I want to take this opportunity to raise some funds for three charities which are important to me.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The charities I have chosen are Diabetes UK, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Shelter.</p>

<p><strong>Diabetes UK</strong>: Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I am raising money for Diabetes UK to help them support children with diabetes to have an active, fulfilled childhood.<span> </span>I feel very lucky that I didn't get it until my early 20s, but I think it must be much more difficult for children whose lives perhaps feel dominated by it from a young age.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Cystic Fibrosis Trust</strong>: Cystic Fibrosis is one of the UK's most common, life-threatening, inherited diseases.<span> </span>The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the UK's only national charity dealing with all aspects of Cystic Fibrosis.<span> </span>They fund research to treat and cure CF and aim to ensure appropriate clinical care and support for people with Cystic Fibrosis.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The fantastic Sophia, two-year old daughter of our great friends Shaun and Helen, has Cystic Fibrosis.<span> </span>There is currently no cure for CF and I am honoured to be raising money towards funding research to find a cure.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Shelter</strong>: Shelter is a charity that works to alleviate the distress caused by homelessness and bad housing.<span> </span>They do this by giving advice, information and advocacy to people in housing need, and by campaigning for lasting political change to end the housing crisis for good.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Homelessness is a blight on modern society and it is getting worse in the current economic climate.<span> </span>I have always supported homelessness charities and feel the work they do for vulnerable members of our society is vital.</p>
