Ricky's First Ironman

Ironman UK · 4 August 2013
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is my first Ironman event (maybe my last) and my first chance to raise money for a very good cause. The stroke association produce and distribute a huge amount of information on stroke and are playing an important role in raising awareness.
My family have benefited first hand from their valuable resources and as such I feel passionate about giving a little back. After my grandad had his stroke in September 2012 their was a huge amount of uncertainty as to the help that was available, his expected quality of life and recovery and the hurdles we would need to overcome along the way. The stroke association made this information available and made the situation a great deal easier for us all, especially my grandmother.
So this is my way of saying thank you to them for their great work and for helping those close to me.
Ironman is a challenge I have wanted to complete since I first discovered it and I am hugely excited, and of course nervous, for the challenge. I have been in training since september, overcome a knee injury and am well on my way in a 36 week training plan.
Whether you are a family member, friend, patient or just a kind supporter of The Stroke Association, thank you again for visiting my site, your support means a great deal.
See you at the finish line! I hope...
Ricky
