Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Cameron and I are hoping to raise funds for The National Brain Appeal (formerly known as The National Hospital Development Foundation), the charity dedicated to raising vital funds for The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, and the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, which has been overseeing Amanda (my mum)'s dementia for several years. She has the semantic variant of Frontotemporal Dementia, one of the rarer forms of dementia. The disease is currently incurable and has taken away much of her ability to communicate or understand, and it is getting worse. We set off this morning (August 19th) to walk the 87 mile Ridgeway national Trail from Ivinghoe Beacon to Avebury. It was raining, and slippery, this morning and we are going to be camping tonight.
Funds raised are going to be forwarded to Rare Dementia Support, which is funded by The National Brain Appeal. Rare Dementia Support offers support groups and resources for people affected by a rare dementia and their families. You can find out more here: http://www.raredementiasupport.org.
