Story
Both of us have been given 'good for age' places in the 2011 Virgin London Marathon. This makes it easy for us as we don't have to raise loads of money for a charity. All we need to do is turn up and try to run it.
We have done 4 marathons between us and each time people wanted to sponsor us. Unfortunately we were selfishly running for our own goals and missed out on an opportunity to raise some cash for a good cause. So, we have set up this JustGiving account to make sure people can support us and the charity of our choice and that we can run the marathon knowing whatever our times, someone else is going to be better off.
We don't have a target figure. If we only raise £5 then that is £5 more than before. You give what you feel is right, we will be grateful for anything.
Why 'The Christie'? Cancer is a vile disease that has affected several of our friends and family in recent years. Sadly some of them have lost their lives to it, but others have fought it and continue to live life to the full. The outstanding care and treatment provided by Christies has made a significant impact in all these cases and therefore it gives us great pleasure to be running for their team. It's our way of giving something back. We know there will be people reading this who will have experienced first hand that care. We also know that Christies is in the North West of England and many of you are from far off places like Scotland and 'the south' and might prefer to give to a local charity. Please do that, but we know the research Christies do will benefit everyone, wherever they live. So if you want to give to fight cancer, we will gladly take your cash here.
If you are in London on 17th April, look out for us. We will appreciate any support. For the record, Emma is hoping for 3:30 (ish) and Richard 3:00 (ish). We will be wearing our Christie vest so give us a wave.
Thanks for your support
Richard & Emma Taylor
