Story

The Marathon Relay of Great Britain will start in London on 4 May and be passing through Keswick mid-afternoon on Thursday 10 May then continue clockwise the whole way round the country returning to London on 23rd May. The Relay aims to raise awareness and funds for brain tumour research through the collaboration with Brain Tumour UK and in the process attempt to break the world record for distance relay running. The record is currently 1,923 miles established in 2009, in Romania and is listed in The Guinness Book of Records. The full distance of the Relay GB is 2,600 miles!

Pete Richards, Chairman of Keswick Athletic Club has organized 2 teams of 6 runners to cover the equivalent of 2 marathons (52 miles) from Grassmere in the Lake District to Kilpatrick-Fleming, just over the Scottish border. There are several big names supporting the run including Phil Tuffnel and marathon legends; Liz McColgan and Mike Gratton. Further details of the relay can be found on the Relay GB website
