Story
Reece is putting his Best Foot Forward by taking part in Parallel London 1k funrun on 4 Sept 2016 at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Reece wants to continue to improve his walking and run like his friends and little brother...but he needs your help.
Please donate to Reeces cause, every penny raised is a step closer to Reece achieving his dream of playing football with his friends unaided.
Reece is from Essex and has spastic diplegic cerebral palsy following complications when he was born. One of the symptoms of cerebral palsy is that it causes tightness in the muscles making it hard to stand, sit, walk or run.
In 2012 Reece had a major operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) to release some of the tightness in his legs and since then he has been working hard everyday to build up the strength and flexibility to walk on his own.
In the 4 years since the operation Reece has improved tremendously and his hard work and determination means he has taken his first independent steps, but as he grows he is in danger of stopping his journey to full mobility, which will mean having to rely on a wheelchair to get around and not being able to achieve his dream of playing football unaided with his friends.
To continue his progress Reece needs regular specialist physiotherapy and strength training to train his body and mind. These sessions also give Mum, Laura, exercises to do at home every day.
National charity, Caudwell Children, is supporting Reece and other children like him by raising money to fund ground breaking treatments and physiotherapy which can help children with Cerebral Palsy walk independently for the first time.
The aim is to raise £10.000 to cover the cost of fourtnightly physiotherapy sessions and 2 weeks intensive strength training at a specialist centre. .
