I first heard of Hannah and her Willberry Wonder Pony last year when reading one of my horse magazines. I was blown away by this courageous young lady and her story of bravery and determination. When reading about Hannah and her passion for eventing and life you couldn't help but be inspired. For someone as young as Hannah to be diagnosed with terminal cancer at such a young age is unimaginable however she didn't let this affect her lust for life or her passion for eventing. She used her situation to try and help others and also raise awareness of this terrible disease and in doing so created the Willberry Wonder Pony charity. Before she passed away she raised thousands of pounds for her charity and also set the charity up so that it would continue to thrive after her passing. She did this all with a smile on her face and putting others before herself, whilst putting up a brave fight with cancer.
Cancer, unfortunately, will touch most of us in some way throughout our lives. Not only am i doing this for Hannah and her wonderful charity but i am also doing this for my mum who has battled cancer not once not twice but three times. If my mum can beat cancer i can certainly push through my nerves and give this challenge my all. Completing this event will mean the world to me but is also going to take a lot of hard work and determination as eventing is not a sport for the fainthearted.
British Eventing 80 combines three equestrian events into one day....dressage (think charlotte and velegro...well i can dream), show jumping and cross country. Eventing require's a lot of training, skill, guts and determination, especially if you are me and haven't jumped properly and regularly for around 7 years, need to lose a few stone, and and the age of 35 has never ever given eventing a go. Honestly this is a real challenge for me but i am determind to do this and i am hoping to end up loving it as much as Hannah did.
Hannah was so passionate about eventing and we all want to do her proud. We will all be #kickingcancersbutt and be #inspiredbyhannah.
