We as a group of friends (Tom Wright, Chris Kroeger, Jamie Collins, Chris Hazell), wanted to support Tom’s Mum (Jo) in her inspiring fundraising efforts. Jo will set off from Bath Abbey on Saturday 1 September 2012 to walk the full length of the 100 mile Cotswold Way, finishing in Chipping Campden nine days later. We wanted to supplement this with a golf marathon. On Monday 16 July we will start just before dawn at 4:45am and play 4 rounds of Golf back to back finishing at 21:30pm!

We are going to playing the Warwickshire Golf & Country Club – for those that know the two courses there will understand that this is a truly grueling test and that the average walking round spans six and half miles meaning four of them will be a marathon whilst carrying a golf bag and playing about 350 shots… hopefully not 400!

Following a diagnosis of breast cancer in 1996 and a recurrence in 2008, Jo is now undergoing chemotherapy treatment for secondary breast cancer.   Over the years, She has received excellent treatment from The Christie Hospital Manchester and The University Hospital Coventry taking part in clinical trials and benefitting from new research along the way.  Cancer Research UK fights cancer on all fronts, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it.  As the years go by and the success of research continues, thousands of others will continue to see the rewards of this work.  Cancer Research funds the work of more than 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses throughout the UK and supports over 200 clinical trials, testing vital new drugs and treatments for cancer.  It is all of us versus cancer.

With this in mind, we want to contribute to this pioneering research by fundraising for Cancer Research UK and would love as many of you as possible to help contribute and support our efforts for Jo and CR UK.
