Story
I started working in central Manchester in 2001 and during the last 15 years, I've seen first hand the steady increase in the numbers of homeless people on the streets of Manchester. I am reminded daily of the incredibly lucky start I had in life and that due to my lovely family and friends it is unlikely I would ever end up in such a vulnerable situation. Every day I see young men and women in such incredibly vulnerable situations and wish things were different for them.
Running the Manchester 10k is my small contribution to hoping things will be different for them. The Booth Centre helps more than 220 people each week - with a vision that everyone should have a secure home and the opportunity to have a good quality life.
In truth I was a little cocky when I signed up to the 10k in January. Running isn't something I have ever enjoyed but I felt confident that with a bit of training it would be easy. IT's NOT. I know that 10k isn't very far but as this is my first ever fund raising request and more than likely my last then please do spare anything you can to support the work of the Booth Centre. I will post my time after the event, just to prove how hard this has been for me - my actual target is to run this in less than double the time of my husband's PB!!!
Finally a massive shout out to my running coaches - Clare and Danielle. I can't lie and say I have enjoyed the training regime but with 18 days to go, I now know I will be able to do this - because of you. I have laughed in between the heavy breathing on every single one of our runs!
