Did you know that each year an estimated 150'000 people in the UK have a stroke.

A stroke is a brain attack, a stroke happens due to a clot or bleed in the brain which cuts off the blood supply and causes brain cells to die.

The Stroke Association is the only UK charity solely concerned with combatting strokes in people of all ages.

They fund research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation and help stroke survivors and their families directly through our community services.

I am fundraising in memory of my Nan, Ruby Andrews. She was a very big part of my life. When Nan sufferred a stroke all who knew her, both family and friends, found it extremely hard to see her struggle with even the basic everyday tasks. After a few weeks in hospital she entered a local rehabilitation centre and through her hard work and the staff's concentrated effort she was eventually strong enough to return home and with the continued help from her immediate family was able to return to a near normal routine of life.
