Story
From June 11-19th, I will be hopping on my bike and riding almost a thousand miles from the northernmost point on Great Britain - John O'Groats in Scotland - to the southernmost point on the island - Land's End on the beautiful Cornwall coast. After watching my husband do this event last year, I'm excited, if more then a little bit apprehensive, to be taking on the challenge myself. As he has pointed out on more then one occasion, "The bad news is that there are hills. The good news is that there are lots of them and they're very steep!" I see this as a golden opportunity to get to see parts of this country that I wouldn't see otherwise - it's all part of trying to take advantage of the experience of living in the UK for a few years.
All the training I've been doing, and the sheer fact that I can participate in this event makes me appreciate my physical capabilites and good health more then ever. I am fundraising for ParalympicsGB as part of this journey. ParalympicsGB is responsible for ensuring Britain's top disabled athletes are best prepared to compete at the Paralympic Games. With the next Games occuring on home soil in London 2012, they have one opportunity to inspire more people with a disability to get in to sport and change public perception of people with a disability. And you have an opportuinity to help support them in this quest. Your donations will help get these athletes to the London 2012 games ready to achieve their fullest potential.
So please dig deep and donate now. And then follow along with me on this adventure, which I'll be blogging daily at www.repatriatedwasp.blogspot.com. Thank you!
