Story

SOCCER AID IS BACK!

The fourth Soccer Aid match in aid of UNICEF will take place on 27th May at Old Trafford and RWFU is back with our third Soccer Aid appeal!

The appeals in 2008 and 2010 raised just over £2000 between them so it seemed appropriate to set this year's target at £1000.  To start with, anyway!

This year sees the return of the Golden Goal competition, as well as a rather special eBay auction to tempt any Robbie Williams fan.

Additionally this year, the UK Government will match every pound you donate.  That means that if you give £5, £10 will be donated to UNICEF to help save children's lives.  The potential for Robbie's fans to really make a difference is HUGE, so please give what you can.

More details to come as we get them - watch this space!

TEXT DONATIONS

If you are in the UK, remember you can now make your donation by text.

Simply text the code RWFU55 along with the amount of your donation to 70070 - so for example, if you want to make a £5 donation you would text RWFU55 £5 to 70070.

Other things you need to know about Text Donation are as follows:

  • The minimum amount per donation is £1.
  • The maximum amount per donation is £10.
  • Donations can only be in the amount of £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, and £10.
  • An individual can give a maximum of £30 per day (e.g. three text donations of £10 each)

All the money you donate goes to UNICEF, and your network provider does not charge you for the SMS you send to make the donation. If you would like to claim Gift Aid on your donation, just follow the instructions in the reply text from JustGiving. .

EMAIL US!

We finally have an email address! Should you wish to contact us, please do so at rwfu4socceraid@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as we notice it...

THE AVATARS ARE BACK!

2010 saw the introduction of the rather cute MiniMe avatars for use all over the world wide web to let everybody know that you were supporting RWFU.  Well, they're back for 2012!  Details of how you can get your hands on one of our highly exclusive* customised avatars are included in the thank you email you will receive when you have made your donation - let's turn the internet purple 4 Soccer Aid in 2012! (I hate text speak.  That 4 is really going to annoy me by the end of all this...)

*we may be slightly overstating the exclusivity

UPDATE

The eBay auction for the LA Vale shirt raised a very brilliant £151 for UNICEF, which is shown in the Offline Donations section of this page.  Huge congratulations to the winning bidder, and enjoy your new shirt!

GOLDEN GOAL COMPETITION 2012

Today RWFU are kicking off our Soccer Aid Golden Goal competition!

This is only meant as a bit of pre-match fundraising fun, but the competition winner will receive an AMAZING prize : A signed copy of Rob's legendary anthem "Angels," 2 demo discs for "Make Me Pure" and "Somethin' Stupid", 3 glossy photos of Robbie and a even a signed postcard! What self respecting Robbie fan wouldn't want those items in their collection?!

All you need to do is decide which player you think will score the first goal at Soccer Aid, and make a donation to UNICEF and Soccer Aid in the usual way.  At the point where you are invited to leave a message, type in GG along with the name of your chosen player.  That bit's important!

So if you think Robbie is going to score first, type  "GG Robbie Williams".  If more than one person chooses the player that scores the Golden Goal we'll put all of those names into a hat and draw the winner from there.

But there are no losers anyway, for in return for your kind donation you will get a fun avatar to use all over the internet in the form of a little mini you in a footie kit, customised especially for you.
You can choose your nationality, hair length and colour and whether you want a boy or a girl avvie, we've even done them for pets!  There are lots of them popping up already, but we want to turn the whole internet blue!

The full team list of players and soccer legends (as of today) is here:

http://www.unicef.org.uk/soccer-aid/soccer-aid-2012-teams/

Good luck!

UPDATE

Seeing as nobody would have guessed in a thousand years that Serge from Kasabian would score the first goal (but wow, what a goal), we did what we said we were going to do in the event of nobody picking the right name, and put all of the Golden Goal entries into Geraldine's daughter's hat, and Geraldine's daughter picked one out at random.  The lucky winner was jlml, and her goodies are on the way to her as we type!

We're finally on Facebook!

Sigh...we've caved in, and there's now a RWFU group page on Facebook.  This is actually a Good Thing (for us) because the idea is that we can put updates on there and people can share them in their own fan pages and groups and things.  As you can see, we have this technology down.. (we don't)

Search for (surprisingly) RWFU and ask for an add.  If it's not one of us who acts on the request, please don't take it personally.  Old people and technology, and all that...
