Story

Follow the RNRU 3 Peaks Challenge at http://www.facebook.com/RNRU3PeaksChallenge.

The RNRU 3 Peaks Challenge team will attempt to climb the 3 highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon) in 24 hours to raise money for the British Limbless Ex-Servicemen's Association, Rugby for Heroes and the Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity on July 14th-15th 2012. The team comprises:

Michael 'Doc' Cox

Iain Whyte

Ed Moss-Ward

Geraint Ashton-Jones

John White

Chris Ellors

Matt Kitson

Melanie White

The challenge is inspired by Royal Marine Aaron Moon, a member of the 2007-8 Royal Navy Under 23s Rugby squad and a fly half of much promise.  In 2008, Aaron was deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan with the Armoured Support Group operating Viking armoured vehicles.  An improvised explosive device attack left him critically injured and he was recovered to the UK for treatment.  The severity of his injuries resulted in the loss of a leg, curtailing his unquestionable promise as a rugby player and a soldier and ultimately forcing him to leave the Service in 2011.
