Hi - We are the volunteers at Radio Lollipop in Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary. We provide care comfort and play to children through ward visits combined with an in-house radio station that the kids can participate in by requesting songs, telling jokes and phoning to talk on the show.

We have recently been featured in the Evening Chronicle about our silver jubilee party for 50 of our region's childhood cancer patients, transplant recipients, cystic fibrosis sufferers and other sick children.  Read about it here:

Our radio studio is now 22 years old and we have received the excellent news that we are due to be fitted with a new one!. As you can imagine, this news has been a hit not only with the kids, but with parents and hospital staff too.

However in order to make our new Radio Lollipop station state-of-the-art, fun, attractive and suitable for children with a wide range of disabilities, we.need to dip our hands in our pockets and come up with the cash for our local sick kids.

Radio Station Re-fit… 

We want our new Radio Lollipop area to be not only a radio studio but also an attractive and fun play area where the children can come to visit.  Wheelchairs, drip stands, sensory impairements will not be a barrier to participating in our stylish new studio.

This will be a fantastic futuristic ‘station’ to go with our revamped and relunched Lollipop service.  The studio should be a magical place, where the sickest children feel special enough to be the star of the show!

Radio Lollipop’s fundraising target is £25,000.  This covers a range of fresh and updated equipment.  The needs of a Radio Lollipop station differ from those of other radio stations in that our kids want to be there to "push the button" and interact with our equipment.  We give the kids the control, but to do this we need your help!
