Story

Thanks for visiting my justgiving page. I am taking on this challenge for Emmy King, my cousins’ 2 year old daughter.

Emmy has Cerebral Palsy Spastic Diplegia, which as well as causing her pain and discomfort also means she suffers from stiff legs and feet and cannot walk or stand unaided like other children her age.

In January Emmy’s Parents created the fundraising campaign “Ready Emmy Walk” to help raise £85,000 for Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) Surgery. SDR is a life changing spinal operation that will enable Emmy to walk and have all the opportunities we take for granted growing up. Without SDR, Emmy would face multiple orthopaedic operations, Botox treatment and leg casting throughout her life and would ultimately need a wheelchair.

MY CHALLENGE:

So, from 1st to 30th April I am going to run to and from work every day, Monday to Friday, for 4 and a bit weeks.  To put this in perspective, that's:

  • 10 miles a day

  • 50 miles a week,

  • Over 7 and a half marathons (I've never run a marathon before)

  • Over 300,000 steps

  • The equivalent to running from London to Manchester

Please make my pain worthwhile and sponsor me, any donation is gratefully received.
