Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As two likeminded souls, born 48 hours apart, we have a love for Triumph classic cars, currently owning 3 between us. Rather than just polishing them (in fact I've never polished mine - Mac), we love to drive them, and the more extreme the event the better.
Last year we joined Club Triumph as they have a similar outlook , organising many driving events through the year with an annual 'epic'. Last year we took part in the Ten Countries Run around Europe, amassing 2500 miles in 5 days, with barely (LOL) a fault on the venerable Stag. This year it's the 50th anniversary of the bi-annual Round Britain Reliability Run, taking in John O-Groats, mid Wales and Land's End, in a continuous drive over 48 hours. A total of 2000 miles means an average speed of 40 mph including any stops - some going for a 42 year old motor, and 2x near-fifty drivers!! It's an even bet whether it will be mechanical or human failure first!
The start is at 6pm on Friday 7th Oct, finishing Sunday evening. Approximately 130 Triumphs will be taking part, so plenty of morale and spare parts support.
The event is set up and marshalled entirely by Club Triumph members, and each year a charity is chosen as a excuse to exercise our passion. This year it's Guide Dogs for the Blind. This fantastic charity is clearly well known, but does rely entirely on public donation. And it's not just a guide dog, for many people trapped in blindness, a doggy friend provides them a route out of isolation and loneliness.
So if you feel inclined, and want to see us succeed (or maybe you don't), how about donating? A penny a mile would be nice, or whatever you can afford to help a needy soul get a helpful doggy friend!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and we'll post a follow up after the event.
