Story
On Sunday 21st June, a team of us will be participating in the iconic London to Brighton Bike Ride. The event which was launched in 1975 and has grown from 36 riders in the first year to over 25,000 cyclists making it the oldest and largest charity bike ride in Europe. We’ll be riding 54 miles, setting off early from Clapham Common, riding through the Surrey and Sussex countryside, tackling the famous Ditchling Beacon hill, before making our descent towards Brighton seafront and heading for the finish line.
As a keen cyclist, I am thrilled to be involved in the event’s milestone year and its popularity is testament to the fact that cycling is such a great inclusive sport. All the money that’s raised continues to help millions of people affected by heart disease. It was shocking to learn that nearly three times more women die from coronary heart disease than breast cancer. I’m passionate about raising awareness of this killer disease and money raised from these challenges will go towards funding the British Heart Foundation's life-saving heart research.
As part of these fundraising efforts I have collaborated with fashion designer Tabitha Webb to produce a summer dress and scarf with all of the profits going towards the British Heart Foundation. The dress and scarf will be on sale from the 7th June in Tabitha’s store and online at www.tabithawebb.co.uk
Thank you so much for your support, knowing our efforts are making a difference to lives affected by heart disease will certainly help us pedal our way to the shores of Brighton.
