Story
With sustained winds of 195mph, Super Typhoon Haiyan which struck the Philippines on Friday 8 November, is thought to be the largest storm ever recorded to make landfall. Destroying homes and reducing boats to matchwood, the typhoon has caused utter devastation, displacing hundreds of thousands of people with no access to clean water, shelter or food.
International disaster relief charity, ShelterBox, is already responding.
A volunteer team from the charity were caught in the storm while in the country helping in the aftermath of a 7.2 magnitude earthquake, which struck the region in October.
ShelterBox is closely monitoring the unfolding situation and is moving emergency shelter and other vital aid already located in the Philippines and neighbouring countries to the worst affected areas. A second ShelterBox Response Team has now arrived in Manila, the capital city, to undertake further assessments and coordinate aid distribution.
In a country still recovering from an earthquake and a series of devastating storms, hundreds of thousands of men, women and children are in desperate need of shelter and basic aid to survive the aftermath of this latest disaster.
Please donate today to help provide emergency shelter and the essential aid these families need to survive and start rebuilding their lives.
