Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the weekend of March 23rd 2012 Eight lads from the Morecambe area will be cycling from Morecambe to Anfield in memory of one of their friends Phil Wilson, to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The lads taking part are Rob Clague, Mark Miller, Simon Crossley, Pete Birkby, Dave Wilson, Steve Dewhurst and Dave Gardner. Phil had two passions in his life, number one was his family, and two was watching Liverpool FC. Anyone who worked with him at Storeys Transprint or Infinis and knew Phil would know how passionate he was about The Red Men. So seven friends, four of which are fellow Reds, two close friends and a former work colleague will be cycling to Liverpool. Phil, back in 1977 as an 18-year-old became part of Liverpool FC folklore, as he set out from Liverpool Lime Street by train across Europe to watch the Reds win their first European Cup in Rome. His fellow Reds shared many great times watching the Reds at Anfield, across England and Europe, so see this as the perfect opportunity to raise money for MND in his memory.
WHAT IS MND? This is the name given to a group of related diseases affecting the motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord. It affects people in different ways, so no two people will have exactly the same symptoms or experience of MND.
MND can destroy the ability to walk, talk, dress or swallow. Few disorders are as devastating as MND. Imagine a healthy and alert mind trapped inside a body that can't move, but can still think and feel. That's the devastating reality of MND.
If you would like to know more please visit mndconnect@mndassociation.org this will also direct you to an inspirational guy called alistair the incurable optomist facing up to MND.
This page will be updated on a regular basis, as we get in training for our ride to Liverpool.
