I was widowed at 39 when my husband died suddenly of oesophageal cancer.  It was running that helped me through my grief, encouraged by my children who decided their mummy needed to "get fit".  Never run before, this is a journey that has completely transformed my life.

The Great North Run falls on the 2nd (sad) anniversary of my husband Mark Lee's death, when he was just 43.  He was a Northern Lad, from Hartlepool!  This run is one of 43 I plan to complete over the year in celebration of his life. 

WAY is a fantastic charity, giving vital support to young widows and widowers.  It helped my family through a very traumatic time, so I would like to raise money to help other widows.
