Merv's version of the events on the days below
It was 4am just before we set off to drive to Seascale. 2 hour drive to the start point and then off we went.
Wound our way through Cumbria to a bloody monster of a hill called Hard Knott Pass ( orrible, just orrible ) and then Wrynose Pass straight after it . God really battered us with those and then just to rub it in He chucked 100 ton of hail at us so we were wet thru and freezing cold aswell. Coming down was pretty hairy to say the least. No amount of training would have prepared us for that !!!! Off to Ambleside Windermere Kendal Sedbergh Hawes Askrigg and into Catterick where the 3 nutters carried on to Whitby across the moors. Very very open and very very very hilly, and the other sensible ones went off to the hotel for steak and chips and a lager. Tony, Steve and Peter completed the whole ride in one day !!!!! Absolutely fantastic achievement. If you saw the route they took you`d think they were bloody brave aswell JEEEEEEEZZZZZZ !!!! And a bit nuts. The 3 guys got back after their 155 mile ride around 01:30 ish I think. Pete smelled like a buffalo!! And bloody snored like one aswell. I hardly got a wink o sleep. Colin Bernie and myself set off about 09:30 the next morning while the others sat in the mini bus and laughed every time we got to a hill the gits. Arrived in Whitby 02:30 and went for the best fish chips and mushy peas in the world. All completed the 155 mile ride from Seascale Cumbria to Whitby safe and sound. Very satisfying and a great feeling.
A BIG Thank you to all those who supported us and donated
