Standing waiting for my bag at Reina Sofia Airport, Tenerife I met a most charming and encouraging couple who asked me why I was there to climb the Teide Volcano. In answering them I woke up to the fact that I have yet to be more public about this quest. My hair-brained idea is to conquer "A Mountain a Month" and raise as much as possible over the coming year. So there you have it. As at December 9th I have climbed Snowdon, Table Mountain in the Cape and Pico Viejo (part of Teide) in Tenerife. My next task is Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Can I take a moment to say a short thank you to some amazing people? Dr Paul Mulholland who gave Glenys such courage. To his team. To Glenys's colleagues and friends at Mountwood Surgery who loved Glenys and are supporting me now. But as we reach the anniversary of Glenys's passing there is such love and encouragement from Tiffany her husband Mark, Adam and my other business partner Jon and the team at Connected Pictures. Thank you all for your love and your strength. The list goes on. Pennie, Jules and Marc for looking after my space cadet cat. Patrick and Christine our neighbours, Glenys's sister Valarie and Malcolm in Tenerife and the hoards of other chums across the world who dry my tears when I cry yet shout in elation when I descend back to safety. To those who are encouraging me to travel to their part of the world to climb some local edifice. I have been invited to Colorado and also Calgary. From Europe I have and invite to Innsbruck. Even Carlos at Cafe Russi wants me to go to the Andes. All ideas welcome. peter@connectedpictures.com
But my personal hero is Dr Jack Kreindler and his team especially Jim Pate who put me through some gruelling exercises to see whether I was fit enough to endure the task in front of me. www.76harleystreet.com Dr Jack was so energizing and fuelled my enthusiasm. He has kindly offered to put my story on his site and to support me with continued advice, which is amazing. But the most special thank you in the end must go to the palliative care team with heartfelt thanks to Jenni who helped us all through those very last hours which became precious minutes and inevitable final seconds.
Bless you all, each and every one of you. May I wish you much love and continued energy in all that you do?
