Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Salvation Army in Chalk Farm, Camden, London, has been serving the local community for more than a hundred years. Times have changed, but there is still much work for the Army to do in this inner city area. Problems such as homelessness and loneliness and poverty abound, and many people, old and young, continue to need our help and support.
After the government, the Salvation Army is the largest provider of social services in the United Kingdom. To support this work, it relies not only on financial commitment from its own members, but also on generous donations from the general public.
Each corps (church) is responsible for raising money to help support the Army’s work in its own area, so at Chalk Farm we have decided to set ourselves a special fund-raising challenge to help to supplement money normally raised during the year.
Between 1953 and 1965 Alfred Wainwright explored and documented 214 fells in the Lake District, then published seven detailed guides which are still used by many walkers and climbers today.
In June of this year, some members of the Chalk Farm Salvation Army corps are planning to climb the highest fell from each of Wainwright’s seven guides. This will be completed over three consecutive days, when the group will walk over 38.9 miles, and negotiate more than 20,339 feet of testing terrain.
We would be very grateful if you would consider sponsoring our ‘challenge’ to help us to raise much-needed funds to support our important work in Camden. Donating through JustGiving is easy, fast and secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they will never be sold on to a third party, and you will not receive unwanted e-mails. Once a donation is made, it is passed on directly to the chosen charity and Gift Aid is claimed on every eligible donation made by a U.K. taxpayer. It is also efficient, as it saves time, and cuts costs for the charity involved.
So please dig deep and donate now.
