This is a University of Brighton project.
For more information follow our blog http://uobperu2013.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/peru-2013-learning-through-adventure.html
In April 2013 twenty-six University students and five staff will be going to Huacarpay, Peru to volunteer at a school for ten days. This involes rebuidling and rennovating the school, implementing educational and sporting activities.
The students and staff are paying for the trip themselves. They are running various university and community based projects to raise money, these include a netball tournament, FIFA tournaments, quizzes, curry nights, raffles and a 10,000km cycle!!! The money raised through here will be to help fund the volunteering part of the project, such as educational consumables and equipment.
This project will really help the deprived children of the school and the students delivering this project.
Students will also be completing physiological/medical research on the human responses to altitude exposure after heat and hypoxic acclimation at sea level and then climb Machu Picchu at the end of the 18 days.
We will keep you updated with the fundraising activities the students are running throughout the year and the project out in Peru.
Thank you for your kind support
