Story
On 22nd June 2013 I will be setting out from Whitehaven on the West coast with Rob, Ray, Pete and Mark to walk 135 miles to Sunderland on the East coast. We plan to complete the walk in 7 days which means we'll need to average 20 miles (or about 8 hours walking) per day. This is not a team relay, we will all be walking the full 135 miles.
There are thousands of greyhounds who retire from racing every year and need new homes. We can't help them all but Daybreaks and the Perry Barr branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust do their bit by finding homes for around 250 - 300 greyhounds a year. Looking after the dogs while they're waiting for their new homes takes a lot of money (the vets bills alone came to £4,000 last month) therefore we're doing this walk to raise as much money as we can to help.
None of us are fit by any stretch of the imagination but all have one goal...to help the retired greyhounds find good homes.
