Story

Dear All

I am going to do the Great North Run in 2016 to raise money for Pete's Pancreas Project. For many this charity needs no introduction, but for those who it is new to, please take time to look at the charity's website; http://www.petespancreasproject.co.uk. Pete's Pancreas Project was set up by the Dowen family following the diagnosis of their father Peter, with a rare form of pancreatic cancer in 2011. Unfortunately he lost his fight with the disease in 2014. Currently precious little is known about acinar cell cancer, the type of pancreatic cancer Peter had, making treatment decisions very difficult. So Pete's Pancreas Project is setting up a registry and will gather specimens of this cancer type from throughout the UK for analysis. This will undoubtedly improve our knowledge of this disease and hopefully allow more specific chemotherapy treatments to improve patient outcomes in the future. This is all very costly, so please donate generously.

On a personal level I have never done any long distance running before. My initial runs are showing me how much work and effort it will take to get round the GNR!

Please donate!

Cheers

Paul Rushton
