Story

Surgery has gone well.  Unfortunately recovery time is estimated as 8 to 12 weeks and there is only 6 weeks before LEJOG starts.  Consequently I have done the only sensible thing and I have deferred to next year's Ride Across Britain.

Thank you to everyone for your support.  I'm sorry I cannot ride this year but I will do my absolute best to fulfil my part of the deal in 2018.

Unfortunately I have broken my collarbone.  It's pretty messy and I need surgery (happening on 26 July) to try and sort things out.  As such my participation in the 2017 Ride Across Britain is in significant doubt.  I have asked if I can defer to next year's ride and am waiting for news.

Thank you to everyone for your support.  It was a great encouragement to me as I clocked up the training miles (almost 4,000 miles in the calendar year to date) and strong motivation to me to get back out on my bike just as soon as I can.

This September I will be riding across Britain in support of the Vodafone Foundation.  The Vodafone Foundation will double (matched funding) all donations then pass the money raised to our longstanding partner UNHCR and Europe’s largest grassroots distributor of aid, Help Refugees. Both charities play a critical role supporting both the immediate and long term needs of those who are displaced.

In partnership with UNHCR money raised will allow us to continue to enable young refugees to access a quality digital education through our Instant Network Schools in both Africa and Greece. Working with Help Refugees we want to provide food, shelter and access to information for refugees across Europe.

In total I will be riding 969 miles in 9 days.  The closest thing I will get to a rest day is day 3, on which I still need to cycle 99 miles!
