Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Me and my son Liam are walking the west highland way over 5 days starting on 14 th July in memory of my mum Maureen Murray.

My mum was first diagnosed with (ms) multiple sclerosis away back in 1982 when she was only 39.

She heard on the radio they where looking for guinea pigs for a new treatment to relieve the symptoms of ms in Dundee, using Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment like deep sea divers might use. So after speaking to professor Philip James then began our time in Dundee for the next year.

My mum by 1983 was heavily involved fundraising and helping with opening of a new centre in maryhill Glasgow. She helped with secretarial work while my dad Jim operated the Hyperbaric Oxygen chambers.

My mum lost her fight on 4/10/2020 - 38 years with ms but probably would have been much less without her early help.

And that's the reason we're doing this walk to say thanks for all you done then and are doing now.
