Story
On Saturday 18 June 2016 I will be embarking on a cycling journey from Edinburgh to London to raise vital funds for the charity Missing People.
Last year I ran the charity’s annual 10K run Miles for Missing People, but this year I wanted to set the bar even higher, and ride 500 miles in 5 days. As I am registered blind after my sight deteriorated during my late 20’s, I will be completing the challenge on a tandem alongside my friend Connor Simmons.
In 2012 my beautiful daughter April went missing at the age of 5 years old. Despite huge support from the police and the public, our search ended in tragedy. Missing People provided us with support during this time, and I would like to raise funds to ensure that many more families receive this vital support.
Missing People is the only charity in the UK which specialises in, and is dedicated to, bringing missing children and adults back together with their families. In the last year Coral and I have supported the charity with the launch of their Child Rescue Alert system (in partnership with the National Crime Agency and Groupcall). This system is set up to alert as many individuals and agencies as possible when a child is abducted. We believe this system could make all the difference to other families in the event of a child’s abduction.
By kindly sponsoring my epic cycle challenge today you will be directly helping Missing People continue to deliver their vital helpline service around the clock, every day of the year
Thank you,
Paul Jones
