Story
I'm taking part in this year’s Hiscox Tourmalet Challenge, when thirty-five cyclists from across the insurance industry will be cycling stage eight of the Tour de France.
The challenge will take place on July 8th, which is the day before the professionals riders cycle the route. The route starts in Lourdes and travels over a number of peaks including the 2115 metre Col du Tourmalet and 1580 metre Col de Val Louron-Azet. We will have to ascend over 3,800 metres in total and the race will finish in Bagneres-de-Luchon.
I am fundraising for the Christie Charity, a cancer charity that raises money for a range of projects and initiatives. It focuses on 4 main areas - research, care and treatment, education and extra patient services.
I've chosen the Christie as it cares and researches for cancer sufferers, something that unfortunately continues to touch everyone but thanks to such organisations the outlook is increasingly optimistic.
