Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Running has always been something I have done for myself as a hobby and to keep fit.
Today, I am going to join thousands of runners across the globe and start running for somebody else – for charity.
I have chosen to run for MacMillan Cancer Support.
I believe it is really important to choose a charity that is close to your heart and means something to you.
I’ve been lucky enough not to experience any personal tragedies in my life – for many choosing a charity to raise funds for is spurred by this.
However, I have two personal reasons for raising money for MacMillan.
A member of my extended family is a Macmillan paediatric nurse. Her job is to provide support and care for children with terminal cancer.
The emotional and practical help MacmIllan nurses give to children and their families is incredible.
For many of the children the cancer is terminal and the MacMillan nurses job is to help them make the most of their final days.
The work these men and women do must be some of the most selfless on earth.
The second reason I want to raise money is because a childhood friend of mine died of cancer two years ago. She was just 25 years old.
I remember being extremely upset – even though I had not spoken to her for ten years and had lost touch with her family.
I know her sister, mum and boyfriend went through a terrible time. MacMillan nurses do as much as they can to make this experience as bearable as possible.
So I’m going to be running for MacMillan cancer support. You can sponsor me on this just giving website.
When the going gets tough and the training and injuries get me down, hopefully raising a few quid for a good cause will keep things in perspective.
So go on, if you can, donate a few quid here.
So please dig deep and donate now.
