PATRON & THE ROYAL MARINES' MOUNTAIN CLIMB

Yes, another crazy adventure!
This time it’s to support the disabled war veterans of the Royal Marines.
Despite being American, I have been in the UK for 19 years and fundamentally recognise the importance and value of the Royal Marines and the work they have done to help us. As you may know, the marines who return home disabled are real heroes and much of their rehabilitation and support is funded though charitable donations.
My mission is to climb the Nose route of El Capitan, a super scary gigantic cliff, based in Yosemite, California. We’ve organised and twinned with an especially dedicated climbing group of disabled war veterans who’ll be climbing Mount Snowdon at the same time; both goals will test the limits of physical and mental endurance – one is defined by the route, the other is defined by physical injury. El Capitan is a vertical granite rock face and requires physical fitness, skill and willpower to scale. Snowdon is just as steep and just as frightening to a man who couldn’t walk a few months ago. Both require total commitment, a desire to succeed and a good sense of humour!
All funds raised will go directly to The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund, which supports the rehabilitation and reintegration of marines who have suffered life-changing injuries and will help the marine see his family when he/she is too injured to travel, or help the marine to be able to modify a car and have some independence, or buy specific items of necessary equipment. As an example, it costs £10-15,000 to modify one marine's car to accommodate his injuries, a family room costs £10,000 and a new accommodation block, (already funded) was £23 million! Any donations would be extremely welcome.
The climbing will commence from September 11th. I really would appreciate any donations you can give, which will be accepted from now onwards. As I relayed this past March and during the Patron Ski trip, I personally view this charity as very important and am therefore prepared to match any funds given by a Patron employee.
Any donations would be extremely welcome – BUT DON’T BE SKIMPY!
