Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Please give something (as little or as much as you can afford) to support WaterAid which is a great charity that provides means for clean water to countries which need it.

My official challenges are the first being the 6 peaks challenge which I completed in July and the second being the Walney to Whitby Coast to Coast bike ride in September. Details for both are below.

I will be logging most of my journeys using the Endomondo app on my phone which can be followed at http://www.endomondo.com/profile/1742762

The Walney to Whitby cycle ride - Friday 7th to Sunday 9th September

Over 20 cyclists from Yorkshire Water will take part in the Walney to Whitby cycle ride. Inspired by the original Sea to Sea Cycle Route (C2C), the W2W route passes through a variety of wonderful countryside to its south, stretching between Walney Island - just outside Barrow-in-Furness on Cumbria’s Irish Sea coast, and Whitby (179 miles) on the North Sea coast.

It's a classic ‘coast to coast’ cycling touring adventure done as short break or longer holiday, challenging in both distance and terrain, but really quite achievable with some preparation. Thanks to the distinctive blue National Cycle Network signs and the official maps it’s easy to follow in either direction.

The 6 peaks Challenge - Friday 6 to Monday 9 July 2012

This awesome Yorkshire Water IT team (The 2BM mountain Goats) completed the famous 6 peaks challenge to raise money for Water Aid, Yorkshire Water's designated charity.

Water Aid is an international non governmental organisation whose mission is to transform lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities.

The 6 Peaks Challenge visited the summits of the highest peaks of the six regions of the British Isles (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man), all within 72 hours!

In total the team walked 50miles, climb 20000 feet, drive 1000 miles, cross 2 seas climbing Ben Nevis, Snaefell, Scarfell Pike, Snowdon, Slieve Donard, and Corran Tuathail.

The challenge is unforgettable in so many ways – combining teamwork, motivation, incredible scenery and physical endurance, whilst contributing to Water Aid’s work, bringing clean water and sanitation to some of the world’s poorest people.

The challenge has raised over £1,000,000 for WaterAid over the years. Clean water is essential for life, but one in eight people do not have it. By supporting the team, your gift could help change the lives of millions of people, starting today
