Story
On Saturday 29th March 2014, a selection of brave souls, united under the PASS banner, will venture into the unknown. Armed only with their running gear and a sense of determination, the PASS team will be braving the cold winter weather and assualting the beaches of Whitley Bay in an effort to raise much-needed funds for the Children's Heart Unit Fund (CHUF) at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne's Freeman Hospital.
Beach Assault
A formidable task for even the most energetic of people, the Beach Assault is a gruelling 10KM obstacle course taking place on the beaches of Whitley Bay in the North East of England.
Designed to test both the mental and physical fitness of those who dare challenge it, the Warrior Beach Assault course includes a total of 20 obstacles that the team will have to conquer. Preparation is all but impossible; each obstacle is kept secret apart from its name, but our team will be battling against such things as:
- Beach Landing
- Kill Zone
- Tom Dick and Harry
- Mine Field
- Belly Buster
- Beach Burn
- Trench Foot
- Spider's Web
- Giants Causeway
- The Trench
The team all know they've got a hard task ahead of them, but each member is determined to conquer the course and raise as much as possible for CHUF.
We hope you can support us and CHUF in the coming weeks as we begin our training for the ultimate assault course.
Close to the hearts of many of the staff at PASS, CHUF gives life-saving care and treatment to babies and small children who are born with or develop heart defects.
Based in Newcastle in the North East, CHUF offers care to children from all around the UK including Ireland, Scotland and from many other hospitals from throughout England.
The Freeman Hospital is one of only two hospitals in the UK that use mechanical hearts to keep children alive until their heart either recovers or a transplant can be arranged, saving many lives that may have otherwise been lost.
Every donation made to CHUF goes towards bettering the lives of the children and families affected by infant heart defects. Money raised so far has helped CHUF to create an eighteen bed ward, six cot nursery, state-of-the-art high dependency unit and a large playroom, computer games room and outside play area for the children being cared for by the hospital.
Every donation helps. Please find it in your heart to give to this amazing charity today by supporting the PASS team.
