Story
Great Ormond Street Hospital treats the most complex and life-threatening illnesses faced by kids from all over the UK. It uses charitable donations to deliver world-class care, support for families, research and pioneering treatment.
Having recently become a dad I wanted to try to do something small to help.
When you visit GOSH you see tiny babies hooked up to ventilators and kids who have been waiting months for a heart transplant. Their parents take turns to sleep nearby. It is an amazing place which changes lives and gives families hope in their worst moments.
The money we're raising via Give to GOSH (the charity appeal by i, The Independent and the London Evening Standard) will support the creation of a new specialist unit for children awaiting a heart transplant; fund research into new cures; improve family support at the hospital; and also fund the Louis Dundas Centre for Children’s Palliative Care, for kids who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Newspaper editors are giving up something for January to raise money. My addiction that helps me meet deadlines is chocolate. (See picture of Augustus Gloop.) The kids at Great Ormond Street seem really grateful for anything people can do to help. Thanks for reading.
