Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you know that my nephew Dylan was diagnosed with Leukaemia on New Years Eve 2014. He was 6 months old at the time. After enduring 4 months of chemotherapy, he was finally released from Manchester Children's Hospital on Friday 8th May, at 10 months old.
My sister and brother in law had to stay on site with Dylan for the duration of his treatment. It was at the Ronald McDonald House where they were given a room.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities provide free 'home away from home' accommodation at specialists children's hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life.
They are an independent charity that rely on the support and generosity of volunteers. It costs £25.00 to house a family in a room for 1 night.
I have signed up to trek Mount Kilimanjaro in February 2016 to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House, and in support of my sister Lisa and my brother in law Ben, who have remained strong and positive throughout the duration of Dylan's treatment. I am also raising money to help other families who are currently, or may have to go through a similar situation at some point in their life.
It is with donations from you that this charity can continue its wonderful work, and ease the pressure of family life during these difficult times.
Okay so there is now an update....I am sad to say that Dylan has relapsed and his Leukaemia has returned. He is now at Southampton General Hospital receiving more Chemotherapy. He will then be transferred back to Manchester Children's Hospital to receive a bone marrow transplant :(
The original aim of this trek was to raise money for The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) to help other families that may have to go through this in the future. Well it turns out it will be helping my family again, as they will be taking residence at the Manchester house again for the transplant aimed to be sometime in November, depending on the further rounds of chemo.
Please help by supporting me with however much you can.
