Story
I am running 8.2miles with a group of women from my local church and my Vicar in support of Hope For Justice. As parents we were particularly moved by some of the stories we heard and we wanted to do something to raise some funds for this ever increasing problem.
Human trafficking is modern day slavery. Victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation are both brought in from outside the UK and are UK citizens that are moved from location to location here in Britain. Vulnerable girls are approached by a man who pretends to be their boyfriend who gains their trust through attention and gifts. The "boyfriend" then introduces the girl to their "friend". The "friend" is a trafficker who controls the "boyfriend" through threats and payments for him bringing him girls. The statistics here in the UK are staggering. Hope for Justice assisted 78 victims of human trafficking between 2012 and 2013. For more information and a short video visit www.hopeforjustice.org.uk/what-we-do
For me, this is a real personal challenge. I have never ran further than for the bus before, and I am approaching the big 40. Please support me by making a small donation and help us make a difference.
