Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know we lost Dad to cancer in September last year. What most may not know is that Dad was a fantastic cyclist in his day and in 1961 he cycled 250.17 miles (400Km) in a 12 hour time trial.
Dad achieved this feat in North Worcestershire which is a fairly hilly part of the UK.
When I was recovering from cancer to remove my own malignant tumor early 2015, I was unable to work. As a supply teacher at the time, if I did not work I did not earn. Elizabeth Finn (Turn 2 Us) gave me a grant without which I would not have been able to survive and would probably have ended up homeless.
I would like to be able to give back to this charity and cannot think of a better way than cycling to Dad's old cycling club in Worcestershire and back home again in a day (9th July 2016). The distance planned is just over 250.17 miles. Friends and family have volunteered to support me by cycling some parts of the journey with me and driving a support vehicle. My incredible partner Jon who has supported me through all the traumas of last year will cycle the entire distance with me.
I will never be the cyclist that Dad was but could you please support this fantastic charity in memory of a brilliant father.
