Sheffield Haworth's London to Paris Bike Ride 2015 · 10 September 2015 to 12 September 2015 ·
Thanks for getting this far and checking out my page. Its now only a few weeks away and I really need to ramp this up.
Some may be
aware that I’ve recently decided to raise funds for a wonderful charity:
Hospice UK (more on that below). Although the temptation to do a sponsored egg
and spoon race or perhaps even a marathon was tempting, I have instead chosen
to do something that will push me further than anything I’ve attempted before.
In a matter of weeks, I will cycle from London to Paris, a route of ~450km in
just 3 days. I am still coming to terms with exactly what I have committed to
and, having now completed a few training rides, the extent of the challenge is
becoming very real indeed. Having focussed on the physical side, I now need to
turn my attentions to making sure this actually achieves the desired goal,
raising much needed funds for Hospice UK. A couple of very generous people
kicked me off when I first signed-up for this and I’ve since failed to make
much noise about it. This now needs to change.
I don’t do sob-stories but this really is a charity close to my heart and I one I would love to help in any way I can. Hospices are often believed (quite wrongly) to be supported financially by the taxpayer. In fact it is private donations that allow for this incredible network of institutions to continue their work. To put this into perspective, a hospice needs to raise on average £9,000 every day to keep its services going. Collectively, hospices across the country need to raise on average £1.8 million every day to support patients and families in their community.
I would be hugely grateful for your sponsorship... however clichéd it sounds, every little really does help!
I will of course let you all know how I get on and thank you so much in advance for your support!
