We provide specialist care and support to people with life limiting conditions

Story

Dear all,

Last year several close family and friends took part in the Shine Walk through London in Dad's memory and raised an unbelievable amount of money for a fantastic cause in Eden Valley Hospice.

Mum and myself have decided to don the lycra and trainers again this year and hit the streets of London on 27th September to walk the 26 miles as a fitting tradition and also to raise more funds for Eden Valley Hospice.

Last year we were all truly touched with the support and the generosity of donations we received.  If you would like to do so again, we would of course be eternally grateful and you can do so through my JustGiving page:

Thanks in advance to you all and wish us luck.

Nick & Mum

--------------------

As you are probably aware Dad passed away in March after a short but very courageous battle against an asbestos linked cancer.

To help celebrate Dad's life and what he stood for and enjoyed, Clare, myself and other family members will be doing the Cancer Research UK Shine Walk taking place on September 28th in London.  This is a night time marathon walk through London taking in the various sights and sounds and those who have already completed it, say it is an amazing and thoroughly worthwhile experience.

This is a quick email to see if we can drum up any support to join or sponsor us.  We are hoping we can tempt a few people to make it a fitting night, hopefully followed by a few beers in the early hours once we have stumbled across the finish line.

Of course, one of the main aims of the walk, is to not only remember loved ones, but also to raise money for the various charities involved in fighting and helping people live with this disease.

In his final few weeks, Dad was admitted to the Eden Valley Hospice in Carlisle which is a hospice dedicated to the care of terminally ill patients.  Outside of the trained medical staff, it is run primarily by volunteers, and Dad himself was a volunteer here acting as a Bereavement Counsellor, but also sitting on the Board of Directors.

The care and compassion shown to Dad whilst he was in the Hospice was truly amazing and Mum, Rhys and myself will forever be in their debt.  This helped make a very difficult and emotional time more bearable and myself and Clare are hoping to raise as much money as possible to allow others to benefit from the amazing work done by the Hospice.  As such we will be walking in the name of Eden Valley Hospice.

If any of you are up for the challenge and want to join us and help raise money for either this or other cancer charities, we would be delighted. Alternatively, if you are unable to join us on the walk, please feel free to sponsor us on the Just Giving page below.  I have attached the various website details and registration for the walk closes soon:
