Story
Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) is aiming to raise funds to purchase a vital new piece of equipment that will minimise the extent of surgery required by patients at the hospital and make a big difference to the hospital's cancer department.
Breast cancer is something that has touched the lives of many within the UK, either through their own experience or that of a friend or relative. Newcastle Harley-Davidson and Buell’s Geordie Chapter Director Julie Horsfield is one such woman; she supported best friend Margaret – who was treated at Newcastle's RVI 12 years ago – through coping with the illness.
Margaret is now fully recovered and Julie has suggested that Newcastle Harley-Davidson and Buell pledges its support in raising the much-needed funds for the RVI’s Breast Care Clinic.
The challenge set by the dealership is to travel from the Newcastle showroom on Friday 23 October to John O Groats. From this point, the riders will travel the length of the country along the west coast to Lands End, before returning to Newcastle for the final leg over the Tyne bridge on Sunday 25 October.
