Story
Hi everyone, thanks for looking at my page. I'd like to share a story with you about why I am raising money for GRACE.
After 12 months of having a continuous period, I was diagnosed with cancer of the womb. I had never heard of this cancer and was amazed to discover that 18,000 women in the UK are diagnosed with a type gynaecological cancer, that is 10% of all cancers! I was extremely worried about my future, however, I was completely re-assured by my surgeon who advised that they had caught the disease early enough so that a total hysterectomy should be enough. I was incredibly lucky to have this diagnosis. My surgery was a complete success and I am now cancer free. I joined a Facebook group for women with the same diagnosis and it became apparent that none of them had heard of this type of cancer before they had been diagnosed with it. I immediately made a friend who gave me so much good advice. Unfortunately, her story did not have the same outcome and my dear friend died just after her wedding at the young age of 32. I think of her everyday and wonder if more people were aware of the symptoms, maybe she would still be alive.
I know that one of the causes of this disease is being over weight so I decisded in January to lose at least 4 stone. I am determined to do this and have already lost 23lbs in the first 4 months. I would appreciate any sponsor, even £1 would help. Please have a read of the symptoms as awareness can save lives.
