Story

Everesting for the Norfolk and Norwich University Charity!

Where do we start?

The NNUH charity is designed to support every aspect of the Trust, although we are donating to this charity with a specific use in mind. The Norfolk and Norwich care for thousands of patients with Cancer every year, our facilities help treat and save so many. However these can always be improved. With the money donated we are hoping that we can help improve the care of these patients in any way possible, for example just buying a comfortable chair for the patients to have their treatment on could make all the difference.

The Figures

In 2020 so far according to the Macmillan.org.uk site, there is roughly 2.9 million people living with Cancer in the UK, and 164,782 people roughly die every year, and this number is increasing.

This doesn't just affect a specific age group either, children, young adults, the middle aged and the elderly can all develop cancer and this is life shattering at any age.

The Challenge

Everyday at the Norfolk and Norwich someone somewhere does something amazing to help one of are many patients. It could be as small as buying a paper from the trust shop or conducting  procedure that ultimately saves a patients life. However in the current climate the headlines are all about one thing. So lets talk about the challenge!

The Everesting challenge is when you climb the height of Everest using what facilities are available to you, so for the challenge at the NNUH we are going to use a stair case and climb the equivalent of 8848m in height! So here is the maths:

Each climb is 53 steps which equals 24ms a climb, in order for us to be able to climb Everest we would need to climb to the top 368.6 times, so for good measure lets make that 368 times. We are planning to split this over a two day period climbing for 8 hours a day, hopefully climbing 184 times a day.

The Team

The Nuclear Medicine and Radiology team help diagnose and treat thousands patients with cancer every year, we are a dedicated and passionate team who believe in the services we provide. But we want to do more, by supporting this cause you will help us support those who go through life changing challenges everyday!

Thank you for your support!

kind Regards

Arron, Sara, Stephen and Emily.
