There is a Yoga Centre near where I live (http://www.yogapoint.co.uk) and Chris, one of the teachers, posted this amazing story of spiritual conversion on her blog.
She and Nick have together organised a Yogathon to raise money for the Prison Phoenix Trust, a charity which brings yoga and meditation to prisons (
http://www.theppt.org.uk/).
I have recently started blogging about my experience of meditation, in the context of the Occupy movement, so I can really connect with the message of hope that bringing meditation/yoga to prisoners is all about.
I have never done more than 10 sun salutations in a row, so not sure how I'm going to train myself do 108 in 5 days time, but I'm going to try - it feels like a worthwhile cause.
The minimum sponsorship is £108, but hopefully even though there are only 5 days we can raise together a bit more than that:)
Here are some reassuring words from JustGiving:
"Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - more is raised, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity."
